RIBs and sports boats are suitable for use on inland waterways and at sea. A 4-5m RIB is suitable for estuaries, large lakes and lochs, and short coastal trips in good weather. You can take a Rigid Inflatable Boat to new cruising areas round the UK and you can even take it abroad, so the adventures you can have are endless, really!

Clambering aboard your RIB and heading for the water is a great way to spend the day with family; here are the best places to head to with your RIB… 

  1. Cornwall

 Cornwall is recognised as one of the best locations for all kinds of boaters. Its unique and dramatic coastline features over 400 beaches, making it one of the most popular destinations in the UK for boating enthusiasts and holiday-makers alike. Cornwall offers a range of water-based activities for people of all ages and abilities. Head more towards the south and enjoy a gentler coast lined with picturesque fishing villages and harbour towns, it’s one of the best ways to explore the landscape.

  1. River Thames 

From its source in the Cotswolds, right down the city of London and beyond, the River Thames has been at the heart of English life since the twelfth century. Stretching over 200 miles, the Thames flows through historic countryside and England’s iconic metropolitan capital city. The riverside is dotted with castles, countryside, abbeys, water mills, villages and inns, each with centuries of history.

The Lake District is one of the most popular areas for boating and water sports. Create your own family adventure by exploring the many islands, beautiful rivers and stunning coastline. Lake Windermere stretches for over 10 miles between Ambleside and Newby Bridge and is not only the largest lake in the Lake District, but the largest lake anywhere in England.   1. The Broads 

The Broads are a network of rivers and lakes running through the English counties of Norfolk and Suffolk, to the east of Norwich in East Anglia. The Broads cover 303 square kilometres and boast 125 miles of loch-free waterways. 

The majority of the Broads’ waterways are navigable, making it one of the UK’s most visited destinations for boating, whether it be sailing, powerboating or canoeing. The Broads are known as a classic British holiday destination for its unique landscape and famous waterside pubs and restaurants. It’s the perfect place for a family adventure on your RIB.

  1. The Solent 

The Solent is 20 miles in length separating the English mainland and the Isle of Wight. It’s one of the busiest areas for sailing in the UK and offers ideal conditions for water-based activities including sailing, diving, swimming, sea-kayaking, kite-surfing, angling, windsurfing, jet-skiing and rowing. The area also provides a wide-range of inland activities which attract visitors of all ages form across the UK.
