Portland Marina, Dorset
On the doorstep of Portland Marina are spectacular Chesil Beach and the Fleet Lagoon, both of which are Site of Special Scientific Interests. The neighbouring Weymouth Marina is magical to arrive at by boat, from which you can explore this pretty, historic seaside town. Portland is ideally situated for trips to other popular south coastal towns such as Poole to the east, or head west to cruise past Bridport, Lyme Regis to the Devon delights of Exmouth, Torquay, Paignton, Brixham, Dartmouth, Studland Bay, Swanage, Salcombe. Longer distance journeys to Brittany and the Channel Islands are popular also. Another benefit to using Portland Marina as your base is its 24/7 dry stack lift and launch service (though it is advisable to book in advance, ideally giving at least 2 hours notice).
Pwllheli, Tremadog Bay

It is home to some of the most beautiful coastal towns and beaches, notably including Aberdaron, Abersoch, Llanbedrog, Criccieth, Porthmadog, Borth-y-Gest and Portmeirion, each of which should be on your destination list in their own right. A little further round Cardigan bay you’ll discover the idyllic Mochras Lagoon. Another appeal for exploring this region is the abundant wildlife, with dolphins that can frequently be spotted in the stretch between Abersoch and the St Tudwal islands.
Caernarfon, Gwynedd
Another North Welsh gem is the cruising route accessible from the slip at Caernarfon. This affords you the opportunity to view the delights that Anglesey beholds, including Newborough beach and the idyllic Llandwyn island, Sandy Beach, Church Bay, Carmel Head and South Stack lighthouse. One of the highlights for animal lovers is The Skerries, which are a haven for seabird colonies. This offshore bird sanctuary comprises a series of rocky reefs and shipwrecks which are being gradually regained by nature. This fascinating wildlife paradise is popular with birdwatchers and divers alike.
Plymouth, Devon
Plymouth itself has a rich maritime history, with an abundance of marinas from which to depart. The Mayflower Quay Marina offer assisted launches from its Speedwell slipway. From here you’ll have easy access to the jewels of the Devon coast, including Salcombe, Dartmouth, Torquay and Brixham. The Fal Estuary has an abundance of beautiful towns and villages, including St Mawes, Mylor and Flushing. Other wonders of Cornwall are the serene Smugglers Moorings, the most picturesque cove of Kynance, the panorama from Treen, and fishing hamlet Cadgwith.
St Helier, Jersey
Within 45 minutes of popular Jersey, are the idyllic islands of Sark and Herm.
