Restaurants with a View: Sardinia

Sardinia captivates travellers far and wide with its dreamy beaches, turquoise-blue waters and the glamorous Costa Smeralda studded with elite hotels and Beverly Hills-style shops. And once you’ve had your fill of chic shops and baking in the Sardinian sun, there’s fabulous seafood food, impeccable wine, rugged landscapes and evocative remnants of the island’s ancient nuraghic culture. To give you a flavour for your next adventure, here are a few of Sardinia’s finest restaurants with a view to die for…

Il Paguro, Alghero

Complete with its own terrace, private marina and beautiful sea views, Il Paguro overlooks the beach at Cala Capra, open for lunch and dinner serving fresh, locally-sourced seafood including shellfish, lobsters, and spider-crabs. The restaurant also includes free mooring for yachts up to 60 metres for guests - ideal for a stop during a navigation around the La Maddalena Archipelago.

The Kings Restaurant, Alghero

Cooking has a cultural, anthropological, economical and social value in Sardinia, and the Kings Restaurant holds this at the heart of their ethos. The Kings’ cuisine is inspired by Alghero, Sardinian and Italian community tradition, sustained by a simple concept - the choice of fresh ingredients and local produce. The menu includes Sardinian pasta, meat, fish and vegetable dishes and is one of the most celebrated eateries in Alghero.

Nautilus, Alghero

A secluded, light and airy dining space situated in the heart of the oldest quarter of Alghero, surrounded by the ancient city walls and facing out toward the calm Mediterranean sea. Nautilus will take you on a journey that’s all about love for the local area combined with a passion for cooking and traditional flavours. It’s a one-of-a-kind culinary experience, where tradition meets modernity to create new and exquisite tastes. Savour the catch of the day and the very best Sardinian seafood.

Catalunya Blau Skybar, Alghero

The Blau Skybar on the ninth floor of the Catalunya Hotel with a panoramic terrace offers one of the most incredible views of the bay and historic centre of Alghero. The best time of day to visit Blau is during sunset, when the skyline of Alghero’s historic quarter, the bay and the Capocaccia headland transform into a breathtaking show of colour.

Ristorante dell'Agriturismo Cabu Abbas, Olbia

Nestled in the mountains of Cabu Abbas, where stands the nuraghe (a unique stone structure) Riu Mulina whose construction dates back to 1200-1300 BC, is Ristorante dell’Argriturismo Cabu Abbas. Described as “heaven on earth” and a “fantastic experience”, it’s definitely somewhere you’ll want to dine while visiting the island. They serve traditional Sardinian cuisine prepared with seasonal produce from the family business - mazza frissa, gallurese soup and Sardinian pork to name a few. Reservation is required so be sure to book before you arrive.
